I have released new version of Mock. Biggest changes: you can use Jinja2 templates in configs and Fedora configs now use modular repos as well - https://github.com/rpm-software-management/mock/wiki/Release-Notes-1.4.14 #fedora

#introductions

Hello, I am Thomas, I am a Linux User since Kernel 2.0.38. I started with SuSE (6.x?), used #debian, #fedora, #linuxfromscrath, but use now mainly @opensuse. I like tinkering around with my systems, which are routers with openwrt, a raspberry (raspbian), a linux sat receiver (openhdf), a vps (debian), lenovo thinkpad and a desktop system. I prefer using open source software, and to do self-hosting of services I use, but I am not overly dogmatic.

Just turned my bluetooth 🎧 on and my #Fedora Workstation automatically connected and directed sound output to it. Some things simply work in #Linux. Now let's make it sound nice using royalty-free widely-supported-by-devices #AAC and #LDAC codecs instead of low-quality SBC.

Using some tool/application written in #Rust and it is not packaged in #Fedora?

Let us know!

Pushing ~8.5k commits to #Fedora packages which remove unused and non-standardized `Group` tag.

Hopefully last change like that in this release cycle.

Alte liebe rostet niemals

TWIMC: #Fedora was mentioned multiple times in this talk because its grub package contains hundreds of patches. Sad situation afaics, I hope the developers find a way to cooperate better in the future (which, I guess, as usual will involve hard work for both sides).

We have on the Fediverse, at least so far as I've found... @debian, @elementary, @opensuse and @gentoo. I wonder when the other distros -- bigger ones like Fedora and Ubuntu -- are going to join.

Removing all those pesky #RPM scriptlets from #Fedora packages in between of the "Eliminating Scriptlets for Fun and Profit" and "Re-Thinking Spec Files" talks.

This several-year-long #RedHat effort finally comes to an end: #Firefox will run natively on #Wayland by default in #Fedora 30 Workstation!

Fun fact (no judgement, JFYI TCIMC): #OpenSuse #Tumbleweed, a rolling release distro, got the #Linux #kernel 4.20 about ten days ago. #Fedora 29, a more traditionally updated distro, got this kernel version a week later as regular update.

#Fedora bans software under the SSPLv1 that #MongoDB recently switched to (mongodb.com/blog/post/mong…). "[…] determined that the Server Side Public License v1 (SSPL) is not a Free Software License […] No software under that license may be included in […]" lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/…

"Fedora 28 and 29 are not exploitable because their user space is compiled with GCC's -fstack-clash-protection."

The #Fedora project and @mairin are seeking their way to a new logo: https://blog.linuxgrrl.com/2019/01/09/which-new-fedora-logo-design-do-you-prefer/

Which new Fedora logo design do you prefer?

Finally gets around to installing #Fedora 29 on my desktop computer. #weekend #FedoraProject

TWIMC: You can get RPMs with vanilla #Linux 4.19, 4.20 and mainline snapshots in my #Kernel vanilla repos for #Fedora: fedoraproject.org/wiki/Kernel_Va…

BTW: Does anyone know if there is a proper PPA (e.g. enable once and leave the rest to apt) that provides something similar for #Ubuntu?

To clarify the "proper PPA": I know about https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ as well as tools like Ukuu or ubuntu-mainline-kernel.sh, but even with those its harder to use than a proper PPA where a regular "apt update" will to the "right thing"™ automatically.

I managed to mention #CI 12 times per one page :)

#Linux #kernel 4.19.4 is now available in my "kernel vanilla repositories" for #Fedora 27, 28 and 29.

In #Ubuntu 19.04 and later /bin, /lib, /sbin, … will be symlinks to dirs in /usr (lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubunt…). IOW: Ubuntu adapts the scheme #Fedora 17 introduced about 6 1/2 years ago in the Feature known as "Usrmove" (fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/…)

#Gsconnect v15 is out github.com/andyholmes/gno… "[…] the #GNOME Shell UI has been rewritten to better conform to design guidelines […] Initial support for sending keyboard events […] Improvements to PackageKit support, especially for #Fedora […]" github.com/andyholmes/gno…

\o/ "[…] Auf #Linux nutzt die Engine standardmäßig #Vulkan […]" Hoffentlich bringt sowas die Distros dazu, endlich standardmäßig die Vulkan-Treiber von #Mesa einzurichten… Immerhin #Fedora machts seit kurzem.

Reminder: Wenn ihr an Open-Source-Kram interessiert seit, folgt auch @thleemhuisfoss Der tweeted vornehmlich deutsch. An englischen FLOSS-Kram interessierte sollten noch @knurd42, @knurd42rhfc @knurd42gnome und @kernellogger folgen. #SplittedPersonality leemhuis.info/me/

Side note reminder: I'm posting about stuff from the #RedHat #CentOS and #fedora universe on a different account these days. So if you are interested in topics from that universe you better follow @knurd42rhfc ! And if you are interested in gnome topics, follow @knurd42gnome !

Congrats and thx to everyone involved.
For me this anniversary means: 15 years and 2 or 3 months ago I decided to learn more about #Linux and #FLOSS by starting to contribute to the #Fedora project.

JFYI for those that do not know yet: I build #Linux vanilla kernel packages for Fedora. Won't normally tweet about those here, as I leave tweets from the #redhat, #centos and #fedora universe to my alter ego @knurd42rhfc For even more alter egos see leemhuis.info/me/

#Linux 4.20-rc1 is now available in my #kernel vanilla repositories for #Fedora 27, 28, 29 and 30; latest stable (4.19.1) and a vanilla build of the latest Fedora kernel (4.18.x) are available there, too: fedoraproject.org/wiki/Kernel_Va…

#meingeschreibsel

#Fedora 29 je venku! Stahujte a upgradujte, dokud je horká ?
Vyšla Fedora 29!
